The following social events will be included in the registration fee for every Ordinary participant and accompanying person: Welcome Reception, excursion and Symposium Banquet.
We also intend to provide free lunchboxes to participants.

Participants and registered accompanying persons may look forward to a social program that will promote informal networking. These social events include a welcome reception, excursion and a banquet. In addition, coffee breaks and lunches will be provided to everyone every day of the conference.

  • Please note that attendance of the welcome reception is open to everyone. The banquet, however, is only open to ordinary participants and included in their fee. If any students would like to participate in the Social Program (banquet and excursion), they can do so for an extra fee of 12,000 JPY.
  • If you wish for an accompanying person to attend the Social Program (welcome reception, banquet and excursion), please pay the respective fee of 20,000 JPY through the online payment system.

Welcome Reception

Location: Nara Kasugano International Forum, in the Garden (weather permitting).

The Welcome Reception will take place from 18:00 to 20:00, following the on-site registration.

Group Excursion

Date: Thursday, July 7th
Time: 14:00-18:00

The conference group excursion will take you on a tour of the historic environs of Nara as you explore Todaiji Temple and Kasuga Grand Shrine. Along the approach to the Todaiji temple stands the Nandaimon Gate, a large wooden gate watched over by two fierce looking statues. Deer, regarded as messengers of the gods, roam the grounds freely.

The group will visit Todaiji Temple, one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Japan and home to the country’s largest Buddha statue, before seeing the Kasuga Shrine, which features over 3,000 stone and bronze lanterns. You will see the treasures belonging to the shrine such as armors, mask of Buddha and the largest drum in the world.
